Foster Grandparent Program

Foster Grandparents are are placed in a school environment to be mentors and positive role models for special needs children who may need help with English, learning their numbers, or learning their ABC's. Investing time with children today, we hope that we are developing future decision-making leaders. A little (TLC) tender loving care goes a long way.

Qualifications for seniors:

​

· Must be 55+

​

· Annual household income that does not exceed Federal limits

​

· A heart for children

BENEFITS

​​

  • A $4.00/hour stipend for each hour of service. (By federal law the stipend is not subject to tax or garnishment.) 

  • Training is provided

  • On-the-job supplemental accident/liability/excess auto liability insurance

  • Mileage reimbursement for use of personal vehicle

  • Door-to-door transportation service provided by Concho Valley Transit

  • Annual physical examination paid if required at station site

  • Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon

  • Paid holidays

  • Friendships made for life

DUTIES

  • Volunteering a minimum of 15 hours per week. A volunteer may work up to 40 hours per week

  • One-on-one tutoring with children in a supervised setting

  • Tutoring children in reading, math, and English language

  • Mentoring

  • Being a role model
