Abilene Area Spotlight

Abilene Area RSVP Volunteer Appreciation Lunch – 50s Theme Celebration!
On November 6th, we hosted our Abilene area RSVP Volunteer Appreciation Lunch at the Christian Service Center in Abilene, Texas — and it was a rockin’ good time! Our photo collage highlights a fun afternoon filled with 50s flair as volunteers dressed in their best retro outfits and participated in bubble gum blowing and hula hoop contests.
Guests enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Mooyah Burgers of Abilene, and we were honored to be joined by our special guest, Taylor County Judge Phil Crowley.
Thank you to all of our incredible volunteers for everything you do for the Big Country community. Your dedication, energy, and service continue to make a lasting impact every day.
Abilene RSVP Social
On Thursday, June 26th, we connected with our Abilene-area RSVP volunteers at our beach-themed social! It was a great opportunity to celebrate our amazing volunteers and enjoy a fun summer atmosphere together.
A big thank you to Andrew Robinson, Outreach Coordinator with All Kind Animal Initiative, for joining us and sharing about the impactful work their organization is doing to improve animal welfare in the Abilene community.
We're also incredibly grateful to the Christian Service Center for generously allowing us to use their space for this special event.
And a special shoutout to the several organizations that donated door prizes — your support helped make this event even more enjoyable and appreciated!
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success. We're so thankful for our volunteers and the community partners who support them!
RSVP Volunteers Support the Arts in Abilene

A group of incredible RSVP volunteers came together to support the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council by packing over 900 arts and crafts kits—all in just under three hours! The energy was high as staff and volunteers shared laughs, swapped stories, and enjoyed donuts and coffee while working side by side. It was a fun and productive morning filled with community spirit, teamwork, and lots of smiles.
We're grateful for the volunteers’ hard work and heart, and we’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to serve together!
Celebrating Max Ann Bowlin: A Legacy of Service
RSVP volunteers, staff, and friends gathered at Meals on Wheels Plus to celebrate the retirement of Max Ann Bowlin, RSVP Coordinator and dedicated community advocate who has served the Big Country area for over 14 years. The event was filled with laughter, heartfelt memories, delicious cake, and a spread of hors d’oeuvres—all in honor of someone who has made a lasting impact on the lives of so many.
Max Ann's passion and commitment to volunteerism have inspired countless others. Her send-off was a true reflection of the love and appreciation she’s earned over the years. While she’ll be missed, we’re excited for what’s ahead as she plans to travel, explore, and stay active in this next chapter.
Thank you, Max Ann, for everything—you've left a beautiful mark on this community!

San Angelo Area Spotlight

Thank you to all our volunteers

Our West Texas RSVP volunteers had the honor of visiting the San Angelo Fire Department in remembrance of 9/11.
To show appreciation for those who courageously protect our community, volunteers delivered sweet treats, snacks, and spent time visiting with the firefighters on shift.
We are grateful for the opportunity to honor their service and sacrifice, and to reflect on the spirit of unity and remembrance that this day represents.

2025 Senior Expo hosted by Rio Concho Communities

Americorps Seniors was well represented at the annual Senior Expo at Rio Concho West on April 23rd. The Expo provided a wealth of resources and information to seniors in the community. We hope to see you again next year!
Betel UMC Spring Health Fair
We had a great time connecting with the community at the Spring Health Fair, thanks to Betel UMC! Our staff were on hand to share how our senior volunteer programs—Foster Grandparents, Senior Companions, and West Texas RSVP—make a difference in the lives of others every day.

#StandupforAmericorps
This section is dedicated to the #StandUpForAmeriCorps movement, highlighting the important work being done through AmeriCorps Seniors programs like RSVP. Across our communities, dedicated volunteers are making a real impact — offering support, connection, and compassion where it's needed most. As programs like ours face an uncertain future, we’re sharing the voices of our volunteers and partner sites to show just how vital this service is to the people and places we serve.
